Don began his career in banking and accounting, going on to establish several companies relating to the financial and estate needs of his clientele. Don brings to the table his wealth of expertise in this field. His career has taken him to kitchen tables and boardroom tables.
Don has been a speaker on Estate Preservation and Charitable Giving. He also holds seminars on pre-planning your funeral and a unique protection plan should you or your loved one pass away while away from home.
He is the co-founder and Past President of the Halifax Estate Planning Council, which thrives to this day as a forum for creative professional advisors.
Community involvement includes participation in the planning committees for the Feed Nova Scotia golf tournaments, Longest Day of Golf (for the Canadian Cancer Society), Curl for Cancer bonspiels, and the Arthritis Society golf events. Don has been a board member of the Ashburn Golf Club, Halifax Curling Club, Canadian Cancer Society, and Planned Giving for Dalhousie University.
Always competitive, Don has been an avid curler and golfer. He has represented Nova Scotia at three Canadian golf championships. Don and his curling teams have won numerous cash spiels.
